Happy New Year to all WAABI members and friends from the South Florida Chapter. May the New Year bring good things to your family and peace to the world.
The South Florida Chapter had a very good Christmas season with several projects to help the community. One project was ANGEL TREE. With this project WAABI South Florida Chapter donated gifts to 295 children at a day care for disadvanged children. Ali Mora coordinated the collection of gifts and played Santa’s helper. The children ranged in age from one year old to twelve.
A second project was the Military Lounge at Miami International Airport. The chapter helped with locating a new space for the service men and their families who pass through Miami Airport. Decorations and furniture as well as food were donated to help with the project. Barbara Fulmer and Buzz Fleischman took the lead on this project and received help from the Airport Management and several other agencies in the community. WAABI members will donate time to help host the center.
Our winter quarterly meeting was an auction and dinner to raise funds for our college scholarship fund and for Sky Ranch. We collected over $8000.00 and 100 members attended. It was a fun event and the auction was lively and enjoyable.
The best to everyone in 2008.
