With a staff of 38, Sky Ranch for Boys cares for approximately 40 boys at a time. Most of the boys have been referred by courts or social service agencies and suffer from a variety of emotional, behavioral, learning, and social adaptation problems. In many cases their problems came to light after getting into trouble at school or with the police.

Sky Ranch is a licensed Special Education facility and places great emphasis on helping the boys catch up on what is often a multi-year shortcoming in their basic skill levels in reading, math and science. Sky Ranch has a staff of counselors, case workers, therapists, teachers and other professionals who help the boys improve their learning and behavior skills, as well as overcome the effects of abuse, family disintegration, contact with criminal elements, and other social trauma. Through organized athletics, computers, arts & crafts, working with ranch animals, and the unique flight training program, Sky Ranch helps boys find what they are good at and develop positive feelings about themselves and society in general through the many opportunities for success that Sky Ranch offers. More than 90 percent of the boys sent to Sky Ranch successfully complete the program requirements, most within a year of placement. Sky Ranch accepts boys between the ages of 12 and 17 without regard to race, religion, or national origin. Sky Ranch Foundation, with a staff of two, coordinates volunteer fundraising efforts and publicity programs nationwide. More than 40 business executives, most associated with the alcohol beverage industry, sit on the Foundation board, giving guidance and support to the staff and volunteers. Their companies and trade associations provide the core support which has helped the Foundation raise over $20 million since it was formed in 1961. Sky Ranch Foundation is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt organization. Contributions are tax-deductible.

Sky Ranch for Boys is the designated charity for WAABI. Each year WAABI chapters raise money by various means (i.e. golf tournaments, auctions, recognition dinners, cookbook sales) for a specific project designated by the National Board of Directors. Chapters also volunteer to sponsor boys at the ranch. The chapters write letters and postcards, and provide gifts for the boys on their birthdays and at Christmas. The boys are encouraged to correspond via letters to their WAABI chapters. During 1997 the Minnesota and Connecticut chapters teamed up to purchase roller blades and skate boards for the Ranch. WAABI in the last fifteen years has raised over $1,900,000 for Sky Ranch for Boys.
